QR stands for "quick response", for codes to which were first used in the early 1990s to quickly identify car and engine parts.
Since, they'd been used regularly in Japanese marketing, and most recently have become a cool and edgy way to promote products, services and ideas for the Western world as well.
People who have scanner apps installed on their smart phones scan the code, and it takes you to either a website, a graphic, song, video, or any chosen source of media, instantly.
